Life Skills Training programme was initiated by the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC), Government of Bihar in collaboration with UNICEF to train adolescent girls in essential life skills. In this regard SVS had organized training program in two districts covering computer training as essential skill and Martial Arts to equip the girls to save themselves from possible threats. A total number of 2120 participants got registered themselves and directly benefitted through this program.
Besides this, the Gyan Jyoti centres are established to provide vocational training on local & traditional trades, so that the children could get knowledge about their traditional skills and culture. The organization had organized trainings on toy making and jute based items along with elementary level computer training. Through this intervention, the SVS had covered 960 girl children.
In continuation of our program, the Meena Manch is a campaign initiated under DPEP. It is intended for special intervention to enhance community commitment for girls education. The Post screening discussions are performed to enhance people’s mentality, so that the people express desire to send their daughters to schools. The SVS is operating one Meena Manch in Lakhisarai district and covered 1820 girl child in the program.
